IEW for Emerging Writers
with Mrs. Christine
Monday @ 9:00
Fall 2024 semester dates: Weeks of September 2 - December 13
(No class on the week of October 6 or Nov. 25)
In this introductory writing class, students will be gently introduced to the IEW writing method. Throughout the semester, students will learn how to draw information from texts, write complete sentences and paragraphs and identify the basic parts of speech. Students will also focus on handwriting skills, with weekly copy work practice. This class will move at a much slower pace than our traditional IEW classes and all writing assignments will take place in class. Students will work both individually and in groups as they develop their confidence as emerging writers. This class will consist of structured learning time, games, music and of course, lots of imagination. Students will utilize three different IEW stories during this semester. Stories will be chosen by the students in class. It is recommended that you student be able to write words independently, prior to signing up for this class.
Please note that grade range is just a suggestion and that writing classes should be chosen based upon your student's current writing ability. If you are unsure, please reach out to Mrs. Christine for assistance with choosing a writing class.
Grades: K-3
Cost: $ 240
